Yesterday afternoon, we participated in a National Geographic lesson with big cat expert, Alex Braczkowski. Alex was in Australia yesterday and got up extra early to meet with us. In fact, if you check out the video of our lesson, it looks like he may have rolled out of bed just before getting on camera!
Alex talked about a couple of his research projects including the tree climbing lions of Uganda and the leopards of Mumbai. You can watch Alex's documentary on the tree climbing lions on Disney+. He is beginning a sequel to that film in a couple of months, and I will try hard to get a slot for his next lesson which will be live from Uganda.
An interesting fact about the leopards is that they live in a park in the middle of Mumbai. The city has a large population of stray dogs. They bite the citizens in high numbers causing many poorer people to die of rabies. The leopards are eating these dogs, and the numbers of bites are going down by the thousands now. I hope you can check out our lesson and see the couple of students who got the opportunity to ask Alex a question!
