The students were divided into groups and given paper, scissors, and tape to work together to create a replica of a folded paper design made by Miss Wilder. While they worked, she wrote down comments that she heard that were positive and negative. The students then were able to look at the chart and determine which were growth mindset thoughts and which were fixed mindset.

Growth Mindset vs Fixed Mindset
Miss Wilder taught a lesson on the difference between a 'growth mindset' and a 'fixed mindset'. In a fixed mindset, people believe that their intelligence and talents can't be changed. A growth mindset believes that with hard work, perseverance, and grit we can strengthen our brain muscle and teach our brain new skills and talents.
