Checkmate!

This weekend there was a chess tournament at the University of Maine.  Brewer Community School came in first place in the grade 1-3 age group!  Violet, William, and Dele won individual trophies and shared their excitement with us yesterday.

  1. To William,Dele,Violet and Lily,
Good job on winning the chess trophy thing. I am TERRIBLE at chess even though I played it in kindergarten. You all are really good at chess.

  4. Dear Violet, Will, and Dele,
I was so glad at the chess tournament but at first I was scared. I felt confident after I beat the boy who moved all his pawns forward.I got another win after that really quickly.I stayed behind for Violet to finish her game and I saw two possible checkmates.
    Sincerely,
    Lily
